Overview

Western Cape, Clanwilliam Region - A CapeNature campsite situated on the flower route to the Biedouw valley and Wupperthal. The campsite lies in the northern section of the Cederberg Wilderness, in the Pakhuis Pass, along the banks of the Kliphuis River.

14 spacious shady campsites on bare ground with 11 sites being on the banks of the river. Each site has a picnic table and benches. • Other accommodation - Cottages

Site Essentials
  • • No power - entirely off-grid site - bring your batteries, torches, lights etc.

  • • Water tap on each site

  • • Communal lapa with braai area and also a brick braai on each site - wood can be purchased at the office. Bring your own grid.

Amenities
  • • Communal ablution with hot water showers (gas geyser), basins and flushing toilets. Take your own toilet paper.

  • • Scullery area for washing dishes at the communal lapa.

  • • Zinc tub for washing laundry.

Food, Drinks, Supplies
  • • No restaurant on site - places to eat and takeaways in Clanwilliam 18kms or at Traveller's Rest 16kms.

  • • No onsite shop or kiosk - stock up with groceries in Clanwilliam 18kms.

Activities
  • • Bouldering • Climbing • Hiking - permits may be required

Access
  • • Suitable for all types of vehicles and camping, self-sufficient in terms of power.

  • • 500m of gravel road from the R364

  • • Pets not allowed.

  • • Malaria-free area.

  • • No cell signal

  • • No WiFi hotspot

  • • As a general precaution wherever you travel, keep valuables secured away.

Rates
  • 2025 Camping Rates:*

    1-2 persons per night (max 6 people)

    Off-Season: R150 per site per night with an additional R25 per person (more than 2 people)
    Off peak Season: All dates outside of school or public holidays including weekends.

    Peak Season: R250 per site per night
    Peak Season: all Western Cape School and public Holidays including the day before and the day after.
