Padstals

THE LOCAL SPOT, Wolmaransstad

Very conveniently situated on the fringes of Wolmaransstad on the N12, this delightful Padstal is likely to delay your trip for longer than you imagine.  With all of the curios, trinkets, sauces, dressings, cookies, cakes, Gin selection and much more, it will take a while to do a walk through to explore all that’s on offer.  With indoor and outdoor seating areas, they offer excellent good home-cooked light meals, pastries and cakes.  They are pet friendly and have plenty of parking space.

4 SHEEP, Beaufort West

Albeit that the location is not fabulous, being sited behind the Caltex garage in Beaufort West, 4 Sheep is a hidden gem.  They sell frozen meat – especially local lamb, deli goodies, curios and travel snacks.  The magic though is upstairs in their unpretentious restaurant where delicious food is served.  Of course, we indulged in Lamb Shank with mash and gravy – oh gosh!!  It was absolutely delicious! Don’t be put off by the outside aesthetics – you’ll love what’s inside.

THE OLD COFFEE MILL, Britstown

Turn into Boom Street in Britstown to be blown away by this quaint little coffee shop with original décor and indoor and outdoor seating. The building dates back to 1897 when it served as a grain mill.  Today, friendly staff serve great homemade pies, burgers and scrumptious cakes.  There’s a play area for little ones to work off some car-bound energy. Take a break from the road and enjoy some time at The Old Coffee Mill.

Toeka se dae, Bela Bela, Limpopo

Just off the N1 Highway on the road to Bela Bela.  This charming stop is packed with quirky memorabilia, rusty cars and humourous oddities.  There’s a restaurant serving quick light meals with inside and outside tables and chairs and lots of room for kiddies to play.  They are also pet friendly.  Next door is a padstal with biltong, sweets, fresh bread and curios.  Don’t be surprised if you’re there longer than you planned.

Lawn Bowls
