This is one of our all time favourites to visit during winter. We were there for 2 weeks in July 2023 and resort has so much to offer. A typical day for us is 1. Cold pool at midday, follwered by 2. Hot outside pool late afternoon ( with ice cream from the very well stocked shop on the resort), to 3. Early evening in the hydro pool. Sometimes we used the sauna and steam room. All these are standard for this resort and full alternate energy So now outage when lodshedding. Highly, highly recommend this resort!

Die Eiland Spa is one of the best resorts to spend your winter vacation. We have been going there for many years to stock up on Vitamin C and R&R.
The camping area is mostly laid out in 6 circles – called blocks A to F. A few of the sites are paved and cost a little bit more, and most sites have ample trees (mostly Mopani). Not all the stands are equally level, so it might be possible that you have to put up your caravan in the sun and not under the trees to compensate for that.
The ablutions are world-class – I would go as far as to say they are the best I have ever encountered in our many years as campers. The bathrooms are spacious with enough baths, toilets, and showers for the whole block it serves. It is kept spotless by the friendly staff. In some blocks, there is even a baby bathing area as well as wheel-chair accessible bathrooms. The ablutions also have dishwashing facilities, a porta-potty cleaning station as well as washing machines and tumble dryers that work with tokens you buy at the store. If you prefer, you can have your laundry washed for you at a reasonable price – enquire at the office. None of the blocks are very far from the main entertainment area but there is a bit of an incline towards blocks E and F which makes for good exercise after the ice cream you bought from the extremely well-stocked shop. Next to the shop, you will find the restaurant and takeaways. The restaurant menu is a bit limited but the food is very good.
There are two large pools – one heated and one cold – with trees surrounding them. Some loungers are available but you have to arrive early to secure one! There is not enough shade around the heated pool, but because it is used mostly in winter, it did not bother us that much. The trees around the cold pool are bigger and provide more shade.
The building housing the Hydro Spa contains a large pool which is quite hot; a gym, a sauna, and a steam room. There are also bathrooms and a changing area, which makes it nice when you want to go for an after-dinner swim in the winter.
There are various activities – bowling, cycling, tennis, fishing, pool, supertube, etc. Because it is within the confines of the Hans Merensky Nature Reserve, you can go for a walk in the reserve as well.
Die Eland Spa is very hot in summer so be warned if you plan a holiday there in December – temperatures can go into the 50s during the day. Make sure you bring fans and airconditioners!
All and all, Die Eiland Spa is one of the best family resorts in South Africa, especially during the school holidays. It is well laid out and kept in pristine condition. As with all of the ATKV resorts you know what you get when you arrive, there are no surprises.
I would recommend it to any camper – those who spend months at a resort as well as those who only have a few days or weeks during school holidays.
