Spent 6 days at ATKV Hartenbos, campsite E. Hartenbos is a spotlessly clean town close to Mossel Bay, with many restaurants and shops include their local SPAR and Pick and Pay. Campsite E where I stayed is adjacent to the paved ATKV – 3 km wheel chair friendly walking trail offering magnificent beach and sea views.
Of special mention is the campsite ablutions, by far the best I have come across in all my travels around SA. Something to experience, large showers, each with its independent gas geyser, individual showers have benches inside the shower room, glass doors and well fitted out hooks for clothing. Their is also a porta potty disposal station and all campsites have adjacent taps and electrical connections so one doesn’t need long extension cords The water is also safe for drinking.
When visiting the town of Hartenbos, it is well worth taking a visit to the Laundry and Washing Museum next to the Engin Garage ( free entry) as well as the Hartenbos Museum. For off season campsite rates I paid R220/night and the campsite had 24 hour security plus key card entry for guests.
