This is a great long-stay campsite situated in the indigenous forest in the foothills of the Drakensburg, about 35 km from Hoedspruit/Maruleng. Great in the warmer summer months, can get a little chilly in winter … fairly high rainfall, so be prepared for many an unexpected shower.

The management and staff are incredibly helpful. Pitches are fairly well screened from each other and are on the large side (size varies from pitch to pitch).

On the downside, no wifi in the campsite and cellphone reception is limited to almost none (although I use a cellphone signal booster, which helps). However, both wifi and cellphone signal can be accessed at the tea garden, a couple of hundred metres away.

Moholoholo ya Mati is also a functions venue, so it can get a little noisy when they are hosting a wedding and the like. Best to check their schedule before booking if you are looking for peace and quiet.

Spent a peaceful 5 months there in my motorhome and will definitely return.
