Eastern Cape, Kareedouw region - situated near the 4x4 track to the Baviaanskloof in the Kouga Mountains, this wilderness farm forms part of the Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve – a World Heritage Site.

Site Essentials

  • • No power points at the campsite - food/beverages can be kept cool at the farmhouse on request

  • • Braai on the site. Unlimited firewood is provided free of charge.

  • • Water for washing only - not drinkable. Bring all your own drinking water.

Rates

  • 2024 Camping Rates Guide:

    R90 per person per night

    Children under 13 half price.

    Minimum overall charge per booking R250 per night

  • • Rustic private ablution for the site with hot water shower, basin and flushing toilet.

  • • No scullery area for washing dishes.

  • • No laundry facilities.

  • • No onsite bar and restaurant - bring everything you need as there is nearby alternatives - places to eat in Kareedouw, 1.5 hours (36kms) away on a gravel road.

  • • No onsite shop - stock up in Kareedouw 36kms away.

Access

  • • Better suited to robust high clearance vehicles and 4x4's and off-road trailers, roof-top tents and tent camping due to the long gravel road.

  • • 1 to 1,5km hours (36kms) drive on the dirt road from Kareedouw - road is in poor condition. In flooding conditions, phone for advice about crossing Kouga River causeway.

  • • Pets not allowed

  • • Malaria-free area

  • • No cell signal - closest signal is about kms away further up the hill

  • • No WiFi hotspot

  • • As a general precaution wherever you travel, keep valuables secured away.
