    REVIEW OF Villa Spa

2 Bearz???????? and a Skulpie ????, our 95 Sprint, had the opportunity to camp at Villa Spa over the past weekend of the 14 to 16 July 2023. It is located just 30km south of Durban on the KZN, Sapphire Coast (South Coast).

Upon arrival we were greeted at the gate and shown to a parking while we went into the office and booked in. It was a very painless process and all is well organised. You get a gate security tag for the duration of your stay (Deposit R100). Then you go down to your allocated site. In our case we were told we could take any of a choice of sites. We decided on site 27 which is full sun but camping in winter it is needed. As we got out the car help was there to unhitch and push the caravan into the place you would like it. We declined help to pitch the tent etc.

Sites are beautifully levelled so no need for levelling blocks. All are grassed and did not see a patch of sand anywhere. Some sites are shaded and well secluded. Each site has a power plug (Standard SA 3 pin) nearby and a communal tap. We were very impressed as all the taps are brass and polished like one did in the old days. The resort pays attention to every little detail.

While there we constantly saw workers, sweeping leaves, cutting hedges, cleaning the bathrooms and so. It is as neat as a pin.

Bathrooms are well appointed and could not fault them anywhere.

The resort offers a lot within the boundaries. Although not on the beach there is a gate at the lower point of the resort. Put in the code for the gate, over the pedestrian bridge of the Illovo Train Station and you are on the bridge. The pool sparkles and is heated in winter. However the weekend we were there was just after the cold spell and snow throughout the country and the resort was only able to reheat the pool to around 26C. On top of the cold weather loadshedding also affects the heating of the pool. Next to the pool is a “beach” type bar. Down a few stairs to the games and TV room.

There is a small shop offering the basic for campers. However the shops are just 4km away if you need something.

Besides the pool for the kids there are trampolines, playpark and beach volley ball court.

For the adults the resort also offers a sauna.

We spent a wonderful relaxed weekend there and have placed Villa Spa on our list of caravan parks to return to in the future.
